C&D - Make sure your pet is visible

Make sure your pet is visible!
Autumn, winter… beautiful colorful landscapes, refreshing winter walks, ending by the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa and a happy dog at your feet. But also: fog, rain, dark days… And even then, your four-legged friend still wants to stretch their legs. For their safety, visibility is crucial, especially when it comes to traffic.
Winter months are perfect for outdoor adventures with your dog. However, keep in mind that the sun rises late and sets early. On some days, it feels like the sun takes the entire day off. That’s why your dog must always be highly visible.
We humans have headlights on our cars and bikes, reflective vests, and bright winter coats and hats. Our pets, on the other hand, only have their fur—which is often dark in color. All the more reason to make sure they are protected and visible in the dark!
Avoid dark or busy areas
The most obvious solution is to avoid darkness and heavy traffic whenever possible. If you can, choose to walk in a forest or well-lit areas. This might be manageable with dogs, but cats won’t always follow the rules.
Even in well-lit areas, a dog may still not be visible enough - so extra precautions are always a good idea.
Let your pet shine!
It's even better to make your dog or cat more visible. Many collars and leashes already come with reflective strips, but there are plenty of other options to improve your pet’s visibility. From reflective vests and bands to LED lights, there are many ways to ensure your furry friend stands out in the dark.
